The earthquake which occurred in January of 2010 devastated the country of Haiti, particularly in and around the city of Port au Prince. We have kept you up to date by newsletter and Praise and Prayer sheets, and the blog, but some have asked to have more information here on the website.
As we have received information from Haiti, we have been working to assess the needs and determine the best way to help our ministries in Haiti recover, and determine the best use of the resources which our donors have provided. We hope to have some pictures posted here in the near future, but until then, we can tell you that we have seen considerable progress in the recovery for our churches and other ministries.
To date we have seen a great deal of work completed on our churches, schools and Grace Center, in repairing damage caused by the earthquake. We have transferred around $100,000 to Haiti to accomplish this work and we praise the Lord for the generosity of God's people that have made it possible.
We have seen work accomplished, either rebuilding or repairing churches and schools on at least 7 of our fields; the equivalent of 3-4 containers of relief supplies have been shipped to Haiti and have provided dozens of tents, tarps, food, clothing, medical supplies and medicines, toiletry articles, and literature for evangelism, discipleship and counseling. Over 2000 people have come to salvation in Christ in our churches, since the earthquake, and our churches are continuing to grow. In the midst of devastation, God is at work changing the hearts and lives of many of the Haitian people.
Pictures below should give some idea of the devastation of the earthquake. Pictures of teams that have gone to Haiti since the earthquake have, and will be posted.
